Who We Are

Housing Santa Cruz County (HSCC) is made up of individuals, nonprofit and for-profit businesses, service providers, homelessness organizations and advocates, agriculture leaders, faith-based organizations, labor leaders, financial institutions, housing professionals (architects, contractors) sustainable community leaders (transportation, environment, health, education and energy professionals) nonprofit and for-profit housing developers, local government staff and elected officials, and community leaders.

We are dedicated to making Santa Cruz County affordable for all

With so many more members of our community at risk due to the pandemic, the wildfires, and the broader impacts of climate change, the coalition has determined that now is the time to do something to address the housing crisis in Santa Cruz County.

Together, our coalition has built the leadership and organizational structure needed to catalyze and align political and community will to create the housing, particularly affordable housing, that Santa Cruz County needs to grow and thrive.

Mission

Our mission is to ensure Santa Cruz County is an inclusive, thriving, just, diverse, culturally rich and sustainable community by promoting affordable, safe, stable homes for local residents and workers.

Value Statement

We all rely on one another to make our community work: From local workers and families to our seniors and vulnerable community members; from the farmworkers who pick our food to the store clerks who sell us our groceries; from the teachers who care for our children to the home care workers who care for our parents.

Through public advocacy, community education, and democratic accountability, Housing Santa Cruz County (HSCC) commits to continually transforming Santa Cruz County into a thriving community where everyone has a place to call home.

“Even more than a beautiful and safe home, living here provides opportunities for me and especially my daughter. I have the stability I need to finish college and continue my career. This has made a huge life-changing difference for us!”

— Laura C., Aptos affordable housing resident
